Going way back to the summer of 2008. I bought a cheap red wedding dress off eBay and got an actor friend to model it for me out in the fields north of Kingston. I wanted to use these on my website for my wedding portfolio, then soured on the idea of using model photos instead of REAL portraits.

Engagements | Melissa and Dave's engagement shoot in Kingston, Ontario

Melissa and Dave's engagement shoot

This is going way back, but I always liked this shoot. Melissa and Dave are a little competitive, so we played mini-golf for their engagement shoot. Lots of fun!

As a side note, this was the first time I used a full-frame camera (Canon 5D). I loved it!

Family | The Menard Family - Family Portraits

The Menard Family - Family Portraits

This is the Menard family. They are good friends of mine and they wanted some family photos done. You might remember them from this photo (oddly, their youngest daughter was born 9 months after it was taken).

Portraits | Derek McGihon - Musician Portrait

Derek McGihon, portrait of a musician

Derek is the guitar player for The Stares and was the guitar player in my last band, Lacklustre. He can shred and he's a stand-up fellow. He asked me to take some photos for his solo album, which is out now under the name 'Trux'.

Family | Baby Christopher - Birth Shoot

Baby Christopher, birth shoot

I got an extraordinary opportunity this week to shoot a live birth. A great client of mine asked me to do it, but I just said yes because it was her and didn't really pay attention to what she was asking. Then the night before, I was sitting comfortably in the snug of my local public house, when I realized what I'd agreed to.

'Wait a minute,' says me. 'Did I agree to shoot the BIRTH, or mom and baby after the birth?? CRAP!'

After I sent a quick email off to my client, I realized that, yes, I had agreed to shoot the entire process. Of a C-section birth. YIKES.

So I steeled my will and did my best and it was one of my best photographic experiences yet. I got goosebumps when we heard his first cry.
